The Ultimate Investment
Mom passed away when I was one year old. Since then, “Nanay”, my granny, took over. I love her so much. I’d always make her happy in my own little ways. I’d hug and kiss her when I leave for school or work.
In my grade school years, I’d ask Nanay for coins several times in a day. Then, I’d go to a local grocery shop and get those converted to paper bill. Before nighttime, I’d run to Nanay, with the bill. I’d tell her that it’s my gift to her. Her lightened up face was enough to please me.
It didn’t make sense in numerous angles.
We didn’t really care about the cash. Nor lingered on unravelling the logic behind our actions. It was the postures. Nanay always gave when I asked. She’d feel joy when I return her money as claimed gift. Seeing her happy made me happy likewise.
I call it Love Trading. The same love given and transferred in different forms. Everybody does it. We receive it in certain designs and we return the same in various styles. You may be the type who returns it in one lump sum – collecting small amounts of love and giving it back in one huge form. Or the type who pays on the spot – a unit of love for a unit of love. Or a combination of both. Regardless of how you do it, the essential part is “You Return Love”.
Love trading with Nanay was especially rewarding. I had thought that we were only exchanging when in fact, she was investing love in me. Nanay passed away in 2007, nevertheless, I know her investment is a success for it multiplied ten folds. I am happily sharing it with my wife, family, friends, and community.
Love trading is universal and it’s proven to provide with great returns. But there is one specific type of love in which it is irrelevant. Our terms are void and payment conditions are not stipulated. But the returns – totally off the chart!
It is, of course, without fail, God’s love!
Our Father’s unconditional love does not expect payment in return. He loves us so much that He gave his only begotten Son that we may be saved. His love funds does not get bankrupt for He is Love himself. He does not decree ultimatum for payments. He only “appeals” for two general things: that we also love Him and that we do the same to one another.
Now that I think about it, if a mother’s love, deep as an ocean, could produce great outcome, what more of God’s? He naturally blesses through His grace. But can you even imagine if we answer His appeals? His love is already unquantifiable, and immeasurable but it doesn’t stop there! His love is so commanding that it can move mountains, part oceans, or raise dead. It is indeed the ultimate investment! Spending something for an extremely indefinite and unimaginable profits in return.
So we may be too busy with life trying to survive, outdo each other, and prove something to someone. Our schedules are plenty hectic working for money, buying stocks, putting up businesses, or looking for opportunities.
What about your Love Trading with others?
Most importantly, what about your investments in God?
